OUR FAQ'S

We at Bella Arte Tattoo Co. have high standards of cleanliness and rely solely on completely disposable instruments. We utilize a new sterile tattooing needle for each customer, disposing of all needles after every procedure, using a bio-hazard receptacle. In addition, we use latex free disposable gloves, razor blades, tongue depressors, ink caps, etc. As well as disposable covers for all equipment that will be touching you, the customer (i.e.: arm rest covers, clip cord covers, etc.). Any questions? Please contact us at (973) 227-2227
  • It depends on the tattoo, where it is going, how big, the amount of detail, etc. You can email us with a description AND photo and we can give you a rough estimate. Even better, come in and have a consultation. We will go over everything with you and give you an estimate or even an exact price.

  • We accept all major credit cards, and of course cash, for payments. We are sorry for any inconvenience, but you will not be able to leave a tip for your artist on your credit card. Should you choose to tip your artist we have an ATM on site.

  • Our minimum is $100 and our hourly rate varies by artist (plus NJ sales tax). The best way to get an accurate price range is by booking a (free!) consultation with the artist. If you are not local to the shop, it is possibe to have a consultation through social media with your artist. In order for us to quote your idea, we need to consider the subject, size, placement on the body, detail, etc. You are also welcome to come into the shop and talk to one of our managers or artists, if they’re available. We’re always more than happy to help get you the information you need.

  • We recommend that you eat well before you come in, and remember to stay hydrated. If you start to feel woozy, have a piece of candy. Sugar is your friend in this situation. It’s best not to party the night before because alcohol can increase bleeding for up to 24 hours. Blood also dilutes our pigments, affecting both the appearance of your tattoo as well as the healing process. Remember to stay calm and cool, you’re in good hands. There’s nothing to stress over—it’s just a tattoo!

  • Absolutely not. Drinking alcohol prior to a procedure thins the blood which creates poor conditions during the process and after. Also it is illegal to be tattooed while intoxicated. Numbing creams are terrible for the skin and make it harder to tattoo and healing can be compromised.

  • It takes a minimum of two weeks to “heal,” but it takes months for the skin to fully regenerate.

  • All artists will have a slightly different recommendation for aftercare. Generally speaking, you should do what works best for your healing if you’ve gotten a tattoo before. You know your body best. There is no one right way; there are some ways better than others, which entirely depends on the kind of tattoo you got and your skin type. If you don’t know what works, or want to try something different, it may be best to simply follow what your artist recommends.

Our aftercare instructions can be found [here][0].

  • If we did the tattoo within a six (6) month period, usually. Unless it’s clear that you did not follow our instructions; therefore, making it YOUR fault your tattoo did not heal properly in which case you must pay for it to be fixed. Feet and hands are not usually touched up for free. Also, tattoos on the hands, fingers, inner lip, white ink tattoos or other areas that your artist warned you prior to the procedure may require touch ups and thus is your choice knowing that certain areas do not hold ink well and you will be responsible for paying for a touch up. We do not make appointments for touch ups, walk-ins only. Also, touch ups can only be done Monday-Thursday. Contact the shop for availability the day you want to come in. If you’re looking to get a coverup of a tattoo, please keep in mind that many coverup tattoos can take more than one session to cover up your original tattoo. These multiple sessions, if necessary, are at the customer’s expense.

  • We only uses high quality stainless steel for all piercings and all supplies/equipment are single use/disposable. We offer dermal and surface piercings as well.

  • Absolutely! We’ll be glad to work with your idea! Bringing your own design is 100% better than showing us a picture on your cell phone, bring in a PHYSICAL copy of what you want if you have a specific tattoo you want.

  • Absolutely not. We will run with the idea and draw something custom for you. We WILL NOT copy someone else’s tattoo nor will we copy someone else’s artwork or drawing.

  • The longevity of your tattoo depends on YOU and how you take care of it. It makes no difference. SUNBLOCK IS KEY!

  • YES! You CANNOT submerge your new tattoo in water for a minimum of 2 weeks ; this includes ocean, lake, pool, hot tub, bath tub (showering is OF COURSE recommended). You cannot engage in heavy physical activity (heavy working out, sports etc) for at least a week. Nothing that will cause you to sweat profusely as it will irritate the tattoo. Clothing rubbing on your healing tattoo can be detrimental to healing. Also, keep the new tattoo out of direct sunlight and do not apply sunblock until it is fully healed. Understand the rules BEFORE you get tattooed. Be smart. Keep your new tattoo out of direct contact with any pets! Pet hair is a leading cause of infections in new tattoos and will hinder the healing process greatly!
