Does a tattoo hurt?

Seriously?

How much is a tattoo?

Well, Captain Vague, it depends on the tattoo, where it is going, how big, the amount of detail, etc. You can email us with a description AND photo and we can give you a rough estimate. Even better, come in and have a consultation. We will go over everything with you and give you an estimate or even an exact price.

What are your rates?

Our minimum is $100 and our hourly rate varies by artist (plus NJ sales tax).

Will you hook me up?

No, don’t be a cheap bastard and yes, we DO charge the mandated  NJ state tax of 6.625% on all payments cash or charge!

How old do I have to be to get a tattoo?

With parental/guardian consent, escort, and proper documentation, 15 minimum. Otherwise, with proper ID, 18 years old. Parent or legal guarding MUST be present during the entire procedure. Documentation for a minor to be tattooed would consist of parent/guardian’s government issued ID (re: passport or drivers license), minors identification (re: drivers license, drivers permit, passport, or school ID) and minors original birth certificate or official guardianship documentation.  ALL 3 forms of identification must be presented and photocopied on the day the tattoo and/or piercing is to be done.  A frequently asked question is “why do  you need a birth certificate if we both have government issued ID’s?”.  The answer, do either of those government issued ID’s indicate who the parent/guardian of the minor is?  NO they do not!  Only a birth certificate or legal guardianship document will provide that information.  Customers last name MUST MATCH WITH THE last name on the birth certificate.  All documents provided must be originals…no duplicates or photocopies will be accepted!  You will not be tattooed or pierced without this NO EXCEPTIONS.

ONLY PARENTS OR LEGAL GUARDIANS MAY BOOK APPOINTMENTS AND LEAVE DEPOSITS FOR MINORS.  IF A MINOR CALLS IN TO BOOK THEY WILL BE TOLD TO HAVE THEIR PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN CALL BACK FOR BOOKING INFORMATION!

Can my of age sibling/ friend/ aunt/ step parent/ etc. sign for me if I am under age?

NO! ONLY parent or legal guardian (with legal documentation) can sign for a minor. (See above for details if you missed them a moment ago!)

What kind of documentation do I need to bring?

If 18 or older, standard drivers license or passport STATE ISSUED ID. If you have a drivers permit, we need some kind of PHOTO ID to confirm; school ID. A social security card will not work!   If the customer is a minor, birth certificate, passport, drivers permit, and some kind of photo ID is required AS WELL AS parent or legal guardian’s ID drivers license, passport etc. Last names MUST match up. Guardianship paperwork REQUIRED if not a parent. All these documents must be actual documents and NOT PHOTO COPIES. We also will NOT accept images on your mobile device either. You will not be tattooed or pierced without these required documents, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Can I bring my kid? They’re really well behaved.

NO. Children are not permitted in our tattoo studios or lobby regardless of age. We are not babysitters. Legally they cannot come into the procedure rooms. Prepare PRIOR to your tattoo.

Can I be drunk/ stoned/ use a numbing agent before I get a tattoo?

Absolutely not. Drinking alcohol prior to a procedure thins the blood which creates poor conditions during the process and after. Also it is illegal to be tattooed while intoxicated. Numbing creams are terrible for the skin and make it harder to tattoo and healing can be compromised. Also, earn it and don’t be a pussy.

Do you barter?

Sometimes, inquire within.

Are tattoo touch ups free?

If we did the tattoo within a six (6) month period, usually. Unless it’s clear that you did not follow our instructions; therefore, making it YOUR fault your tattoo did not heal properly in which case you must pay for it to be fixed. Feet and hands are not usually touched up for free, along with tattoos on the fingers, toes, inner lip, white ink tattoos or other areas that your artist warned you prior to the procedure may require touch ups, or that they would have a high likely hood of fading.  After explaining the possibility of fading, it is your decision to move forward, knowing that certain areas do not hold ink well, therefore, you will be responsible for incurring the cost a touch up, if any. We do not make appointments for touch ups, walk-ins only.  Also, touch ups can only be done Monday-Thursday. Contact the shop for availability the day you want to come in. If you’re looking to get a coverup of a tattoo, please keep in mind that many coverup tattoos can take more than one session to cover up your original tattoo. These multiple sessions, if necessary, are at the customer’s expense. Also keep in mind that your eye has been trained to always see the original tattoo, so even if you feel you can see it, odds are that someone else cannot.

Do you accept walk ins?

Absolutely! There is normally someone available to take care of you, if not you may just have to sit around a while. 1st come 1st served. We require a $100 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit at the time your appointment is made or to have your artist commit to drawing up a tattoo design for you prior to your appointment.  The deposit is applied to the final cost of the tattoo on the day of your next appointment.

Can I bring in my own design?

Absolutely! We’ll be glad to work with your idea! Bringing your own design is 100% better than showing us a picture on your cell phone, bring in a PHYSICAL copy of what you want if you have a specific tattoo you want.

I saw a picture of someone else’s tattoo on line, will you do the same exact thing?

Absolutely not. We will run with the idea and draw something custom for you. We WILL NOT copy someone else’s tattoo nor will we copy someone else’s artwork or drawing.

Do you do cover ups?

Absolutely! Cover ups require a bit more work and you need to understand that the cover up usually has to be larger than what you’re covering. You need to come in for a consultation and try and have an idea of what you want to cover your piece with. Keep in mind, cover ups can take more than one session to cover any given tattoo. We’re always willing to work with you and give you a tattoo you’ll love. Our rate for cover ups is based on your specific artists hourly rate. Should the tattoo cover up require an additional session, or more, in most cases, the hourly rate still applies, as covered up tattoos tend to bleed through initially.

What lasts longer, black and gray or color?

The longevity of your tattoo depends on YOU and how you take care of it. It makes no difference. SUNBLOCK IS KEY!

Is there anything I CAN’T do after being tattooed?

YES! You CANNOT submerge your new tattoo in water for a minimum of 2 weeks ; this includes ocean, lake, pool, hot tub, bath tub (showering is OF COURSE recommended). You cannot engage in heavy physical activity (heavy working out, sports etc) for at least a week. Nothing that will cause you to sweat profusely as it will irritate the tattoo. Clothing rubbing on your healing tattoo can be detrimental to healing. Also, keep the new tattoo out of direct sunlight and do not apply sunblock until it is fully healed. Understand the rules BEFORE you get tattooed. Be smart.  Keep your new tattoo out of direct contact with any pets!  Pet hair is a leading cause of infections in new tattoos and will hinder the healing process greatly!

Can I take a copy or take a picture of the drawing for my tattoo before I get it to show my friends.

Sorry but no. Our drawings cannot leave the shop in any form.

Do I have to pay to have a tattoo drawn up?

Yes. A $100 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit is required. The deposit is applied to the final cost of the tattoo on the day of your next appointment.

ALL DEPOSIT ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-TRANSFERABLE.  If you find you need to reschedule your appointment, we REQUIRE 72 HOURS NOTICE.  Anything short of 72 hours form the appointment will result in forfeiture of the full deposit amount and to reschedule another appointment will require another deposit be left.
